Information

The white-feathered broiler commonly known as "fast-growing chicken" and the common domestic yellow-feathered broiler are not much different in terms of nutritional value. The outside world's fear of "fast-growing chickens", that is, white-feathered broilers, is mainly related to the lack of understanding of them. "Wen Jie, chief scientist of the national broiler industry technology system, made the above remarks in an interview with the media recently at the breeding base of Fujian Shengnong Development Co., Ltd. in Guangze County, Fujian. Shengnong Development is KFC's largest chicken supplier in China. County breeding base, 16 chicken coops were built in turn at the foot of a mountain.

After two disinfection procedures, media reporters were allowed into one of the coops. The 1,900-square-meter chicken coop is divided into several pens by pipes that automatically deliver feed and water, and 30,000 chicks who have just been born for 16 days are kept in captivity. It is said that the grandparents of these chicks, as well as the breeding methods and feed formulas, were imported from abroad. The temperature of the chicken house will be adjusted according to the different growth stages of the chickens, and the feed formulations are also different in different growth stages of the chickens, which is also the key factor for these chickens to reach a weight of 2.3-2.4 kg in more than 40 days. Wen Jie said that at present, all white-feathered broiler breeds in China are imported from abroad, and foreign breeding methods are used for reference. White-feathered broiler is a breed of broiler that is widely used in the world. Among them, the United States is the world's largest broiler producer.

Both the white-feathered broiler and the yellow-feathered broiler commonly found in China are the result of "genetic selection". "In the past, chickens both lay eggs and eat meat, which is a dual-purpose type, but they also lay fewer eggs and produce less meat, so they are not suitable for large-scale production. The current animal husbandry is a highly specialized industry, which is characterized as a post-layering hen industry. , it will strengthen the egg-laying function. In the past, a chicken could only lay seven or eighty eggs a year, and now the laying hens can produce 300 eggs a year." Wen Jie said that broilers pursue growth speed, while white-feathered broilers and Although yellow-feather broilers belong to the same category of broilers, the former has higher growth efficiency, "1.8 kilograms or less of feed can be converted into 1 kilogram of chicken", and the growth cycle is half shorter than that of yellow-feather broilers. But compared with yellow feather broiler, white feather broiler has less flavor and texture. Wen Jie said that in China, these two types of chickens have their own markets. The white-feathered broiler chicken is mainly in the north, and the consumption market of the three-yellow chicken is concentrated in the south of the Yangtze River and the coastal cities in the southeast. Wen Jie believes that, as far as China's broiler industry is concerned, in addition to food safety issues, breeding is also an important issue. "Domestic experts and entrepreneurs have a consensus and hope that one day they will have their own breeds. China's broiler consumption is second only to the United States and ranks second in the world, but all domestic breeders are imported from abroad, and the breeders are generally the same. It needs to be replaced once a year." Wen Jie said that the current global commercial broiler breeds are mainly controlled by a few companies such as Aviagen and Tyson in the United States. "Once a trade problem occurs, it will have a huge impact on the domestic market."
