Information
Sudden death syndrome is also known as sudden death syndrome, acute heart disease, and head turning syndrome. The etiology is very complex, and it is generally believed that the following factors are related.
1. Nutritional factors High protein is said to reduce abdominal fat and reduce heat stress response, thereby reducing mortality. The level of fat in the feed and the type of fat have an impact on the occurrence of this disease. When fat is added to the diet, the incidence is significantly higher than that of chickens without fat. Adding sunflower oil (vegetable oil) to the diet instead of animal fat can be significantly reduced. occurrence of this disease. Diet composition may be one of the factors affecting the occurrence of this disease. Feeding a diet high in glucose is more than double the incidence of feeding a diet containing high corn or mixed animal and vegetable fats. The ratio of wheat-soybean cake type diets The incidence of corn-soybean cake diets is high. Chickens fed pellets had higher mortality rates than flocks fed meal. Vitamins and minerals may also be related to this disease. When the water-soluble vitamins such as pyridoxine, sulfate and biotin in the feed are higher than the required standard, the mortality rate can be reduced. Adding potassium can reduce the incidence. Adding 150 micrograms of biotin per 1 kg of diet can reduce the incidence of disease.
2. Environmental factors There are many environmental factors that cause this disease, such as high noise, continuous strong light exposure, high stocking density, and fright, all of which can be induced. Unfavorable factors such as sudden group transfer and poor ventilation can lead to the occurrence of this disease.
3. Genetic and individual factors Including strain, sex, growth rate, etc. It is generally believed that chickens with fast growth rate and good body condition are more frequent, and the incidence of male chickens is higher than that of female chickens, and male chickens account for 70 to 80% of the total mortality.
4. Acid-base balance According to reports, the typical symptoms of sudden death appeared in chickens after a few seconds of intravenous injection of 20% lactic acid solution. At the same time, it was found that the level of lactic acid in sick chickens was significantly higher than that in healthy chickens, which suggested that acid-base imbalance was a cause of the disease.
5. Drug factors When chickens were fed ionophores with anticoccidial drugs, the incidence was significantly higher than that of non-ionophore anticoccidial drugs.
